New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker issued an air quality alert due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. The air quality in New Haven is currently considered “Unhealthy” (a “Red” alert).
Affected Groups
Sensitive groups, including individuals with asthma, heart or lung disease, other respiratory ailments, as well as older adults, pregnant women, children, and teenagers, should take precautions to reduce exposure.
Recommended steps include shortening outdoor activity time, choosing less strenuous activities, rescheduling physical activities to be indoors, and wearing an N95 mask while outside.
