New Mexico Land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard has denied a request from Energy Transfer to build a gas pipeline through state trust land for Project Jupiter. The decision was made because the pipeline would not be in the best interest of state trust, citing high greenhouse gases and strain on natural resources.
The pipeline would have gone through a 0.6 mile portion of state trust land. The land commissioner’s office stated that the denial was based on the potential negative impact on the environment and the state’s natural resources.
