Streamlining Prior Authorizations
Health insurers, including Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna, have made efforts to simplify and reduce prior authorization requirements. Aetna has reduced the number of prior authorizations by making the request process the same for most conditions and bundling authorizations for conditions like cancer.
CVS Health, Aetna’s parent company, plans to launch an AI assistant to call providers directly and book appointments on behalf of members. This tool aims to reduce administrative burden and improve the patient experience.
