Dough Baby, a beloved farmers market vendor, has taken the leap to a brick-and-mortar location in Olmos Park. The concept, which began as a side gig for veteran chef Nancy Fitch, has evolved into a full-fledged business with a loyal customer base.
From Farmers Market to Brick-and-Mortar
Fitch’s journey with Dough Baby began at the Pearl Farmers Market, where she would sell out of her kolaches and iced cinnamon rolls within an hour. The success of her pop-up led to the opening of her own shop on McCullough Avenue in Olmos Park.
The Olmos Park menu features a range of items, including zucchini bread, quiche, baby cakes, cookies, coffee, tea, and 11 different types of kolaches. Customer Stephen Kinsley raves about the Italian muffuletta, saying, “The taste is incredible… The meats are moist and it has the right mixture of olive in it. The bread is so fresh you could put anything in it and it would be amazing.”
Fitch, who has worked in kitchens at Biga on the Banks and Rosario’s, brings her expertise to the table with Dough Baby. She uses organic flours, grass-fed butter, and the highest-quality ingredients to create her signature baked goods.
The shop is open Wednesday through Monday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is closed on Tuesdays. The farmers market pop-up at Pearl remains open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
