An 18-year-old was rescued from the water at Kettletown State Park in Oxford, officials said. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)’s EnCon police were called to the Lake Zoar area of the park around 4:30 p.m. on the report of a possible drowning.
According to officials, an 18-year-old reportedly jumped from the cliffs but then struggled to swim and went underwater. His brother was able to pull him to shore and began CPR, officials said.
The Oxford Fire Department took the teen to the Jackson Cove beach area, where he regained consciousness and was taken to Waterbury Hospital.
Officials said that during the rescue process, the fire department’s vessel capsized and all aboard were sent into the water. All were recovered safely, and the vessel was taken back to the boat launch, according to DEEP officials.
