North Texas law enforcement agencies are expected to receive over $51 million in federal reimbursement for their security efforts during the FIFA World Cup. The funding, provided through FEMA’s FIFA World Cup Grant Program, will be distributed among various agencies in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, and other cities.
Security Operations
After 34 consecutive days of security operations, Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup, praised North Texas law enforcement for their performance. Giuliani stated that North Texas agencies demonstrated their ability to handle security for major international events.
The federal funding is intended to reimburse law enforcement agencies for the significant security costs associated with the tournament. Giuliani emphasized that the funding will primarily go towards law enforcement overtime and additional security, with measures in place to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.
