The Medical Miracles Gala, held on May 2, brought together nearly 800 people to raise funds for University Health’s cardiovascular services. The event raised a record-breaking $927,000, surpassing the $900,000 goal.
A Community Effort
The gala centered around the story of Malea Potter, a patient who received life-saving care at University Health. Malea was born with a congenital heart condition and was cleared to start a family, but further testing revealed she needed a valve replacement before attempting pregnancy.
With the help of University Health’s cardiovascular team, Malea was able to give birth to two healthy children. Her story moved the room and inspired the community to give. The funds raised will support the expansion of University Health’s cardiovascular services, including the Women’s Heart Center, which serves women managing heart conditions during pregnancy and beyond.
A Record-Breaking Evening
The 2026 Medical Miracles Gala was a landmark evening, with guests and sponsors raising nearly $927,000. Every dollar goes directly to patients, with 100% of the gala proceeds benefiting patients of University Health.
The event was made possible by the dedication of the University Health Foundation team and the Gala Committee members. The Medical Miracles Gala is one of San Antonio’s most meaningful evenings of the year, bringing together the community to give and make a difference.
