A 16-year-old from Raleigh was charged as an adult in connection with the violence in the city on the night of July 4th. Police say the teen fired shots into at least two vehicles at Brier Creek, one of which had four children inside.
Charges
The teen is facing six charges: assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharge of a weapon into an occupied motor vehicle (two counts), felony riot, possession of firearm of a minor, and going armed to the terror of the public.
A fight was reported outside the movie theater at Brier Creek around 10:30 p.m. on the night of July 4th. Two adults were injured, one was hit by gunfire and the other was injured by glass shattered during the shooting.
Hours later, after 1:30 a.m. on July 5, officers responded to multiple shootings in and around the Glenwood South entertainment district. Raleigh Police have filed juvenile petitions for four juveniles in connection to the shootings at Brier Creek and Glenwood South.
The 16-year-old is being charged as an adult, but will be held in juvenile detention. He made his first court appearance on Monday.
