A San Antonio man, Reyes Moreno, 71, was walking within the I-37 southbound lanes in Live Oak County around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday when he was struck by an SUV. The driver, a 38-year-old man, did not see Moreno and drove into him, propelling him into a grassy median.
The driver stopped to help Moreno, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to a Beeville hospital for treatment. Several vehicles were involved in a crash with Moreno’s stopped vehicle on I-37, and the highway was shut down for multiple hours.
