Natrona County commissioners have approved Stage One fire restrictions, effective July 7, due to severe fire danger caused by drought conditions and dry fuel loads.
Restrictions and Allowances
The restrictions ban open burning and fireworks on all state and private lands. However, certain activities are still allowed if they take place within a cleared radius of at least 15 feet from burnable materials. These include campfires at residences or campsites, charcoal fires in enclosed grills, and the use of propane stoves or lanterns.
Residents may also burn trash inside containers with spark arresters between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. Industrial tasks like welding, grinding, and acetylene cutting are permitted within the same 15-foot cleared area.
Violators of the restrictions face a fine of up to $100, up to 30 days in jail, or both, plus possible restitution costs.
