Drivers traveling through Pasco County next week will need to budget extra travel time as state transportation officials roll out a massive wave of lane closures, overnight disruptions, and permanent round-the-clock bottlenecks on nearly every major highway corridor.
Affected Highways
The disruptions begin Sunday night, July 12, and stretch through Saturday, July 18. The upcoming work involves heavy daytime lane flagging operations, multi-hour night shifts, and several long-term lane closures that will remain active 24 hours a day until further notice.
Commuters on State Road 52 will face some of the most persistent bottlenecks. Westbound State Road 52 will have its left lane completely shut down around-the-clock from just east of the Suncoast Parkway (State Road 589) to just west of the parkway.
State Road 54 travelers will experience a similar mix of daytime congestion and night delays. At Altamont Lane, night lane closures are scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. starting Sunday evening and wrapping up Thursday morning.
Long-term delays are also locked in for US 301, where the southbound right lane from Kingsmere Road to Wire Road is officially shut down around-the-clock until further notice, forcing all southbound traffic into a single lane through the area.
