The Steelgrove Amphitheater, a $40 million project, has reached a key milestone with the placement of its final steel beam. The amphitheater, which will be Elizabethtown’s first major concert venue, is expected to host acts of all genres.
Unique Venue
Sharilyn Mayhugh, the general manager of the Steelgrove Amphitheater, described the venue as unique, saying it feels intimate for both artists and the crowd. The natural surroundings, including trees, will add to the venue’s casual and community-oriented atmosphere.
The amphitheater is expected to be completed next spring and will be booked by Danny Wimmer Presents, the group behind Louder Than Life and Bourbon and Beyond.
Economic Benefits
Mayor Jeff Gregory emphasized the economic benefits the amphitheater could bring to Elizabethtown, building on the success of other local attractions like the E-Town Sports Park. The mayor noted that the amphitheater will bring people to the city who have never been there before, allowing them to see what the city has to offer.
Roy Keith, who sold the property to the city, reflected on the land’s history, which was once a farm. He expressed his hopes that the land’s new purpose will be beneficial to the city and the community.
