Residents in Northwest Arkansas are being asked to provide input on a proposed road improvement project that would widen Apple Blossom Avenue between Goad Springs Street and Highway 265. The cities of Springdale and Lowell are working together on the plans, which aim to ease congestion in the area.
Project Details
The proposed project includes improvements to intersections at Highway 71B, Chief Truman Brewer Boulevard, and other cross streets. Plans also call for drainage improvements, new street lighting, side paths for pedestrians and cyclists, and a connection to the Razorback Regional Greenway.
During a recent public meeting, residents were asked to review two possible roadway designs before engineers move forward with a final recommendation. The designs include a four-lane road with a median in the middle, as well as a three-lane section.
Public feedback will help guide the project’s design as engineers continue developing plans over the next several years. The design portion of the project is expected to last until the beginning of 2028, and if funding is available, construction could begin as early as 2029.
