DoorDash, a food delivery company, has deactivated the account of a driver accused of intentionally redirecting food orders destined for a Department of Homeland Security facility. The company called the alleged conduct ‘theft’ and a violation of its policies.
Incident Details
The accusations against the driver went viral online after a social media account, Libs of TikTok, posted screenshots from the alleged driver. The driver, who identified as ‘nixxslingerland’ on Threads, wrote about cancelling orders and donating the food to a ‘free pantry’.
DoorDash confirmed that the driver’s account was deactivated, stating that the individual’s behavior violated the company’s Community Guidelines and Platform Access Policy. The company also noted that the driver was abusive towards a support agent, which is a separate violation.
Company Response
Michelle Babin, manager for Trust & Safety Communications at DoorDash, stated that the company enforces its standards and policies fairly and consistently. Babin added that anyone who does not meet the company’s standards or whose behavior violates its policies may be removed from the platform.
