Florida Southern College in Polk County, Florida, has been awarded a $31,000 Tennis Venue Services grant from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) to resurface 10 tennis courts on campus.
Upgrading Tennis Facilities
The funding will enable the college to maintain its high-level training environment for student-athletes and accommodate local community events and national collegiate tournaments. Trish Riddell, Florida Southern College’s Head Women’s Tennis Coach, expressed excitement about the grant, stating it will help the college remain one of the premier Division II facilities in the country.
The USTA’s Tennis Venue Services grant program aims to upgrade current tennis spaces and build new ones to boost playing opportunities nationwide. Since 2005, the program has handed out over $34 million, including $16 million in 2025 alone, which funded nearly 300 separate projects and impacted more than 2,500 courts.
