The city of Des Moines says a new recycling program could save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars. For the past several months, the Street Maintenance Division of the city’s Public Works Department has been using the Hartford Recycle Yard for its material recycling program.
Program Details
The city says it uses more than 16 tons of crushed cement and asphalt for street maintenance projects. At full capacity, officials say the site can generate almost $400,000 in savings. In addition to reduced costs, the program also provides environmental benefits like conserving natural resources.
