Tucker Neale, the tournament organizer, praised Louisville as a host city, citing its ease of navigation. The event is expected to generate $48 million in direct economic impact, with hotel occupancy reaching 90% or higher for multiple days.
The tournament has made adjustments to keep all games at one site, eliminating the need for teams to travel between the Expo Center and the International Convention Center downtown. Enhanced security measures have also been implemented following last year’s false active shooter scare.
The games are open to the public, offering an opportunity to watch future stars of girls’ basketball in action. The tournament officially tips off, with some games already played.
