A new art gallery in Fort Worth is putting the focus on photography. The Masure Gallery of Photography, located within Fort Worth Camera on Camp Bowie Boulevard, is the city’s first art space dedicated exclusively to curating exhibitions around local photographers.
Local Photography on Display
The gallery’s second exhibition, ‘Modern Exposure,’ is currently on view, featuring the work of Fort Worth photographer Walt Burns. Burns is known for his architectural images that offer a unique depiction of the city’s landscapes.
The gallery has grown to represent several local photographers, including Burns, Brooks Burris, Chris Ireland, Felix Schilling, Caroline Hanson, and K.P. Wilska. The gallery’s director, Simone Fischer, aims to connect emerging photographers to the city’s larger and more established museums.
Masure Gallery has also uniquely positioned itself by printing and framing the works selected for its shows at no cost to photographers, applying those expenses to the final price tag. This model is rare in the art world, according to Fischer.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
