Ozarks Technical Community College has announced pathways for students to enter the University of Missouri’s School of Medicine in Springfield. The two schools reached an agreement on the pathways earlier this year, allowing students to complete their entire education in Springfield.
Pathway Details
Starting in the fall semester, students can pursue an associate of science degree in chemistry, biology, or math-track biology. Once they obtain their associate degree, they can pursue a bachelor’s degree through Missouri State, Drury, or Evangel universities. Students can enter this pathway as incoming freshmen or during their first semester at Ozarks Tech.
After being accepted into a bachelor’s degree program, students can apply for Mizzou’s Springfield pre-admission program. If accepted, they must complete their degree and meet GPA and medical test requirements before joining the medical school. The programs were developed in collaboration with MU and align with the university’s recommended coursework for pre-med students.
Acceptance into the program is expected to be competitive, with limited spots available. Ozarks Tech’s programs are designed to prepare students for the high level of academic rigor required. To be eligible, students must meet residency and academic benchmarks, including U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status, a score of at least 500 on the Medical College Admissions Test, and an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
