Wylie Fire Rescue celebrates new battalion chiefs, cites $19.4M property saved

City Council received an overview of Wylie Fire Rescue during a Tuesday, May 12 work session, highlighting the department’s operations, recent accomplishments and future planning priorities tied to the city’s continued growth.

Department officials said Wylie F-R responded to 7,259 calls for service in 2025, generating 12,316 total unit responses, or nearly 20 responses per day. Fire crews reported saving an estimated $19.42 million in property while losses from fires totaled approximately $2.28 million.

Wylie Fire Rescue currently staffs four stations with a minimum of 25 personnel per shift and 28 assigned personnel per shift. Station No. 1, located at 431 S. Ballard Ave., and Station No. 2, located at 1020 Country Club Road, remain among the department’s busiest response areas.
