A traffic stop in Paragould, Arkansas, led to the arrest of Jacquez Knowles on felony drug charges. Knowles was stopped by Paragould police at about 1:43 p.m. on July 6 for a defective taillight. During the stop, officers found $1,149 in cash in the vehicle.
Search and Arrest
Knowles was removed from the vehicle and searched. Officers also searched his cellphone as a condition of his suspended imposition of sentence with a search waiver on file. Messages on the phone indicated the sale of marijuana. Knowles was then placed in handcuffs and put into a patrol unit.
Later, officers searched Knowles’ apartment on Theil Road, where they found about a half-pound of marijuana, digital scales, pipes, and a small amount of suspected psilocybin mushrooms. Knowles was charged with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with the purpose to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and use of a communication device, all listed as Class C felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing governmental operations.
Judge Curtis Hitt set bond at $50,000 and ordered Knowles to wear an ankle monitor. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
