The Marion County Fair returns to Salem for four days of animal showcases, live music, carnival rides, and fair food. The fair, held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds, highlights many local businesses, artists, and performers. Thursday features reduced admission prices: $3 for guests ages 6 and older, and free admission for veterans, first responders, and their families, and children 5 and under. Gates open at 12:30 p.m. Standard admission is $9 for adults, $5 for seniors 62 and up, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for children under 5.

On Friday, July 10, Salem Cinema’s Christmas in July screening of “Home Alone” will begin at 5 p.m. with Christmas crafts and writing letters to Santa. There will be free popcorn to enjoy during the movie, which starts at 6 p.m. The event will be in the food court, and it’s free to attend.
Aspiring detectives can help solve a murder at Salem’s historic Grand Theatre during an improvised murder mystery show. Performers from The Imperfect Murder Society will take suggestions from the audience, including surprise reveals, suspect names, and the type of murder. Audience members can dress fancy or come doused in fake blood. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door. The show is at 7:30 p.m., and doors open at 6:30 p.m.
On Saturday, July 11, the Salem Philharmonia Orchestra will play classic patriotic songs such as “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” “America the Beautiful Fantasy,” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” The free concert will begin at 11 a.m. People can bring picnic blankets and lawn chairs to sit. The concert will be held in the Capitol Mall park, just north of the Capitol.
On Wednesday, July 15, a local yoga studio will be having a free evening outdoor yoga class at Riverfront Park. The 60-minute, all-levels class hosted by Yoga + Beer will be held at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater near the river. The class will be from 6-7 p.m. It is free to attend, though a $5-10 donation per person is recommended.
