Cleveland County residents hit by the July 4 storms will now get help from the state after Gov. Kevin Stitt declared a 3-day disaster emergency for Cleveland and Washington counties. This move unlocks additional state resources to support local crews leading the response.
Local Response Efforts
Cleveland County crews have been working to clear rural roads, and now they are shifting their focus to helping inside city limits, particularly in Norman where extra manpower is needed. Commissioner Jacob McHughes stated that it will take extra equipment to get the city back on its feet.
Rural residents are asked to contact the Cleveland County Commissioners if trees are blocking public roads. If a home or business was damaged in the storm, state officials are asking owners to report it at damage.ok.gov.
