A young woman was rescued on June 28 after being trapped for several days in deep mud and sewage at the bottom of a steep ravine behind Emmett J. Conrad High School in Dallas.
Rescue Efforts
Dallas police officers and firefighters responded to the scene after a passerby heard the woman’s faint cries for help. The rescue took place in a wooded area behind the high school, located in the 7600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue, between the Vickery Meadow and Lake Highlands neighborhoods.
First responders navigated nearly a quarter mile of rugged terrain in 104-degree heat to reach the woman. Crews successfully extricated her from the ravine and transported her to a local hospital, where she was treated for severe dehydration, prolonged sun exposure, and other injuries related to being trapped for several days.
Authorities have not released the woman’s identity or current condition. The Dallas Police Department praised the coordinated response by multiple agencies and thanked the officers, firefighters, and paramedics involved in the operation.
