A child died in an apartment fire in Dunn on Saturday night during the Independence Day holiday. Dunn Director of Emergency Services Gary Whitman said the child was a boy who was 6-to-7 years old.
The fire brought first responders to Ashbrooke Apartments on East Pope Street just before 11 p.m. Two others were taken to the hospital. Their conditions were unknown. Three people were treated at the scene.
The cause of the fire was not confirmed as of Monday afternoon. Dunn leaders will hold a press conference on Tuesday morning and give more information.
