El Paso students recently represented the borderland at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), one of the world’s largest competitions for young scientists. Students Mia Olivas, Abigail Caguingin, Ivanna Aragon, Bella Vargas, Marina Itzel Lares-Garcia, and Hannah Koh showcased their scientific research, turning everyday questions into innovative projects.
Local Students Make a Global Impact
The students’ projects ranged from dogs’ paw preferences to skin hydration, demonstrating their creativity and dedication to STEM fields. Hannah Koh emphasized the importance of starting with a high school science project and developing it into real research to address real-world problems.
Abigail Caguingin’s project focused on understanding how ingredients affect skin conditions, a topic close to her heart due to her family’s history with skin conditions. The students’ success at ISEF serves as an inspiration to other young people to explore STEM fields and make a positive impact in their communities.
