The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is advising attendees of the Widespread Panic concert at Snow King to follow safety tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Safety Tips
JPD recommends using the buddy system, having a plan for a safe place to go at the end of the night, and being able to clearly articulate that plan to law enforcement. The department also encourages the use of licensed taxi drivers, Lyft, and Uber services instead of driving while under the influence.
High altitude can affect alcohol consumption, and Snow King’s summit is approximately 7,800 feet high. JPD officers will be on foot patrol near the base of the mountain and will have cruisers dedicated to impaired driving enforcement.
Lt. Russ Ruschill emphasized that most officers would prefer to help get someone home safely rather than arrest them. He also noted that sometimes the safest place can be inside a jail cell with a $100 fine.
