The city of Hartford celebrated America’s 250th birthday with various festivities, including free rides at the Bushnell Park Carousel.
A Piece of Hartford History
The carousel, a 1914 antique, is one of the city’s oldest attractions and a recognizable landmark in Bushnell Park. Morgan Fippinger, executive director of the Bushnell Park Conservancy, said the free ride day is one of the conservancy’s ways of participating in Hartford’s celebration.
The air-conditioned carousel building provided visitors with a chance to cool off as temperatures climbed during the holiday celebration. Fippinger emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and noted that the carousel building is a great place to take a break and enjoy a ride.
