Serena Williams has withdrawn from the Wimbledon doubles campaign alongside her sister Venus due to a knee injury. The 44-year-old American tennis player sustained the injury during her opening-round singles defeat.

Williams expressed her disappointment on Instagram, stating that she had done everything she could to recover but her knee was not ready to compete. She also thanked the tournament director and the fans for their support.

The Williams sisters, who have six doubles titles at the All England Club, received a wildcard and were drawn to play Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio in the opening round.
