San Francisco’s museums are offering a variety of new exhibits and events this summer. The Museum of the African Diaspora is featuring “Demetri Broxton: Ancestral Echoes – Crops of Empire” through August 16, 2026. The de Young Museum has “Monet and Venice” on display through July 26, 2026.

The Asian Art Museum will open “Treasures of the Pharaohs” on August 1, 2026. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) will feature “New Work: Sheila Hicks” starting August 9, 2026. The 500 Capp Street museum has “Collaborating with the Muses: Part 2” on display through August 23, 2026.
The city’s museums are also facing challenges, with the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts suspending operations. The SOMArts museum is trying to fill a budget gap and is accepting donations.
