Tim Hardaway Jr. is following in his father’s footsteps by joining the Miami Heat, but he won’t be wearing his dad’s retired number. The Heat acquired Tim Hardaway Sr. in a trade, and he became one of the franchise’s all-time greats.
Family Legacy
Hardaway’s No. 10 was retired by the Heat in 2009. His son has worn the number in three of his five NBA stops, but the elder Hardaway is adamant that his legacy remains intact. “My legacy is my legacy. Even though he likes to wear No. 10, that is not coming down from the rafters,” Tim Hardaway Sr. said.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has previously worn other numbers, including No. 5 and No. 3, but those are unavailable due to current Heat players Nikola Jovic and Dwyane Wade. He may have to wear a different number, possibly No. 8, which is currently worn by Trevor Keels.
