Nick Houck, the brother of Crystal Rogers’ killer, had his court date set for late 2026 in a Nelson County courtroom. Houck is set to stand trial for a perjury charge in November, tied to the Crystal Rogers disappearance in 2015.
Background
Kentucky State Police said Houck made false statements that span from July 2015, shortly after Rogers disappeared, to August 2023. In 2015, Houck was fired from the Bardstown Police Department for interfering with the investigation of Rogers’ disappearance. His brother, Brooks Houck, was convicted of Rogers’ murder last July.
Crystal Rogers’ mother, Sherry Ballard, attended Houck’s court appearance and voiced anger at his actions. Ballard said she was upset that Houck chose to sit directly in front of her and that he is requesting a change of venue for his case.
‘I’m very upset about this. I try not to let that family get to me, but I’ll be daggone if I’m gonna sit beside him. That’s not going to happen,’ Ballard said. ‘He is such a crybaby. You can’t own up to what you did. You can’t face the people in this town,’ she added.
