Volunteer crews with Edmond Electric are helping bring electricity to more homes in the Navajo Nation in Arizona. Seven members of the electric company’s line crew left over the weekend to support the national 2026 Light Up Navajo initiative.
Expanding Electricity Access
They are joining teams from across the nation to expand electricity access throughout the Navajo Nation in Arizona. So far this year, the initiative has connected more than 140 homes to the electric grid, according to Edmond Electric. Approximately 13,000 homes in the Navajo Nation don’t have power.
Edmond Electric’s volunteer crew will be in Arizona for the next few days and will have another one-week trip in mid-July. The crew’s efforts are part of a larger initiative to bring power to those in need in the Navajo Nation.
