Wylie City Council continued planning for its upcoming bond election and next year’s budget while approving several zoning requests during its meeting on June 23.
Zoning Changes
The council approved a zoning change on 1.275 acres at 7940 E. Parker Road to allow for a 4,875-square-foot auto repair shop. The request was approved 6-1, with conditions requiring the existing structure to be renovated to meet code or demolished, limiting overnight parking, installing an 8-foot fence, and improving the property’s frontage.
The council also considered a zoning change on 3.53 acres at the northeast corner of Country Club Road and Park Boulevard to allow for a convenience store and motor vehicle fueling station. Several residents submitted letters opposing the proposal, citing its proximity to a childcare facility, neighborhood, and school.
