As the nation celebrates its 250th anniversary, many Wyoming towns have canceled their July 4th fireworks displays due to high wildfire risks and drought conditions. The decision to cancel or restrict fireworks is aimed at preventing wildfires and ensuring public safety.
Affected Towns and Counties
The following towns and counties have canceled or restricted fireworks: Gillette/Campbell County, Douglas, Newcastle, Pine Haven, Riverton, Teton County, Cheyenne, Casper, and Weston County. Even small towns like Chugwater, with a population of 175, have banned fireworks inside their town limits.
The Bureau of Land Management has also prohibited fireworks on public lands managed by the agency in Wyoming. While some towns have canceled their fireworks displays, others have designated specific areas for public displays, such as the Honeycutt Softball and Saban Baseball Complex in Riverton.
