The Tampa Bay Rays are opening the upper deck at Tropicana Field for ‘Longo’s Legacy Weekend’ from July 10-12, a three-day event dedicated to honoring former third baseman Evan Longoria.
Upper Deck Access
The decision opens up seating in sections 300 through 312 on both the first- and third-base sides of the stadium. This upcoming series marks the first time these upper-level seats have been available to the public since the American League Wild Card Series against the Texas Rangers in October 2023.
The weekend itinerary includes Longoria’s official induction into the Rays Hall of Fame and the formal retirement of his jersey number.
Rays’ Excitement
‘We are excited to celebrate Evan Longoria’s significant contributions to our organization,’ Rays Chief Business Officer Bill Walsh said. ‘Opening the upper deck allows more fans to join us for this historic moment and contribute to what will surely be an electric atmosphere at Tropicana Field.’
The team is tying the event to the launch of a new recurring promotion called the ‘Devil Rays Deal,’ which will apply to every remaining Friday home game at Tropicana Field starting June 10. Fans buying these specific tickets receive $10 in ‘Burst Bucks’ through the MLB Ballpark app for use on stadium food, drinks, or merchandise.
The first 5,000 fans through the gates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will receive an 11′ x 17′ giveaway poster. The three distinct posters were designed by Rob Zilla, a sports illustrator from the Washington, D.C. area who creates his work on an iPad Pro.
