The Boston Celtics have made a significant move, trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George, two first-round draft picks, and two second-round picks, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Details of the Trade
The Celtics will receive a 2028 first-round pick that could convert to a more favorable pick, a 2031 unprotected Philadelphia first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2030 second-round pick. Jaylen Brown, who will turn 30 in October, was drafted by the Celtics with the third overall pick in 2016.
Brown has had a successful career with the Celtics, earning five All-Star nods and being named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2023 and 2026. He signed a four-year, $115 million contract extension before the 2019-20 season and a supermax extension in 2023 worth up to $303.7 million over five years.
The trade comes after the Celtics’ disappointing postseason, where they blew a 3-1 lead to the 76ers. The team’s front office, led by Brad Stevens, has been looking to make significant changes to the roster this summer.
