Beartooth Pass (U.S. Highway 212) remains closed between Cooke City and the Wyoming/Montana state line due to extreme travel conditions and heavy unseasonal snow. The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) has posted updates on their Facebook page, including photos showing significant snow drifts.

According to WYDOT’s 511 interactive map, the pass is currently closed, and the estimated opening time is unknown. Parking on the roadway is prohibited and may delay the opening of the road. Crews are actively working to clear the highway, but no reopening time has been announced.

The weather forecast for Yellowstone and Beartooth Pass shows temperatures in the low 60s for July 4th, with some leftover snow on the ground. It is unclear if the pass will be open in time for the holiday.
