A police chase in Franklin, Ohio, ended in a crash on Tuesday morning, with one juvenile arrested and another still at large. According to the Franklin Division of Police, officers were engaged in a police chase with two separate vehicles that were headed westbound on State Route 73 at approximately 4:23 a.m.
Police say that the two vehicles were reported to have been connected to nearby vehicle thefts and vehicle break-ins. The chase ultimately came to an end when one of the vehicles, described as a white Ford F-150, struck a concrete median as the chase had expanded to the north onto Interstate 75 while the driver was attempting to exit the interstate at Miamisburg-Centerville Road.
The two occupants then fled the scene on foot, where they are said to have entered a wooded area by a nearby Best Buy store. With the assistance of K-9 units, officers say that they were able to successfully locate one of the suspects, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The Franklin Division of Police says that they were assisted at the scene by the Clearcreek Township Police Department, Springboro Police Department, Miamisburg Police Department, Miami Township Police Department, and West Carrollton Police Department. The police department is reminding residents to always lock up their vehicles, take keys and key fobs with them, never leave vehicles unattended, and secure any valuable items inside their vehicle so that they are not visible to others.
