American Legion National Commander Dan Wiley visited Moore, Oklahoma, to meet with veterans and address the ongoing crisis of veteran suicide. Wiley connected with veterans at American Legion Post 184, discussing advocacy, resources, and the importance of reducing the stigma associated with veteran suicide.
Veteran Suicide Epidemic
Wiley emphasized that veteran suicide is one of the biggest epidemics in the veteran community, and the American Legion’s goal is to reduce the stigma associated with it. He explained that conversations with veterans help shape the American Legion’s advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C.
The American Legion is encouraging posts across the country to find ways to mark America’s 250th birthday, whether through festivals, parades, or raising awareness. Wiley said that all veterans who came before us built what we have today, and it’s up to us to be good stewards of that for the next 250 years.
