This week in Salem, several local events are taking place. On Wednesday, July 1, a free taiko drumming and Japanese folk dance performance will be held at the Salem Public Library’s Loucks Auditorium.
Marion Berries Fireworks
The Marion Berries, Salem’s summer collegiate baseball team, will have its first fireworks show during the Friday night home game against the Portland Pickles. The game will be at the Chemeketa Community College baseball field, and single tickets start at $13.
Mean Girls the Musical
Chemeketa Community College will perform outdoor productions of “Mean Girls the Musical” at the Gerry Frank Amphitheater at Riverfront Park. The comedy, based on the 2004 movie, follows high schooler Cady Heron’s descent into toxic popularity. Tickets start at $17.40.
Other events include a special showing of the iconic 1962 movie “The Music Man” at Salem Cinema and a new market in Salem featuring local art, treats, and music.
