Rescuers in Venezuela, which was hit by devastating twin earthquakes last week, pulled a child from the rubble of a collapsed building six days after the disaster. The child, Klieber Moran, was rescued by Jordanian emergency workers from the Los Corales Garden 1 building in La Guaira state.
Venezuela was hit by two earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 less than a minute apart, toppling buildings and trapping thousands of people beneath the rubble. Moran, who is 3 years old according to Venezuela’s acting President Delcy Rodriguez, was taken for medical treatment after being rescued.
A shipment from UNICEF carrying humanitarian supplies, including emergency health kits for urgent medical care, arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday to support children and families in need.
