The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is seeking input on a proposed roundabout in Pike Road, at the intersection of Alabama Highway 126 and Wares Ferry Road. The existing intersection has a flashing light to slow down or stop traffic, depending on the direction of travel.
Project Details
The proposed project would involve road reconstruction and realignment, signing and pavement marking upgrades, lighting modifications, and other work. ALDOT says construction would be performed in phases to maintain traffic through the intersection, and no detour is anticipated.
A public meeting is being held at Pike Road Town Hall from 5PM-7PM to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in getting input from the people who use the route.
Not far away on Alabama Highway 126, work is being completed on two roundabouts. One is just off of Exit 16 from Interstate 85 and the other is at Marler Road. Work on those roundabouts has been going on for more than one year.
