Georgetown is moving forward with plans for a new water reclamation facility, which will be located on a 47-acre site near the planned Three Forks Water Reclamation Facility and Berry Creek.
Project Details
The city owns the property at 3500 FM 971, which is currently in Georgetown’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. As part of the rezoning for public facilities use, the city will also create a municipal service agreement for the water reclamation facility to bring it into city limits.
Although officials have not yet detailed design specifications or a timeline for the Pecan Branch facility, the action to rezone the land adds the facility to a number of ongoing water infrastructure projects. The Three Forks project is part of Georgetown’s $1.96 billion five-year water and wastewater capital improvement plan.
Georgetown will need to expand its water supply by 2030 to support the growing population and increase its drought resilience. These projects help increase and diversify the city’s water supply, according to city documents.
