The City of Casper announced that it will begin installing video surveillance and new signage at the Casper Mountain slash pile on June 30. This effort aims to reduce the risk of fire and ensure the protection of the community.
Concerns Over Illegal Dumping
The slash pile, intended for the accumulation of branches and brush, has recently seen an influx of prohibited materials, including household trash, treated wood, and other combustible debris alongside woody waste.
Casper Fire Chief Jacob Black stated that the city is taking these measures to address concerns over illegal disposal and provide evidence for enforcement. Residents found dumping trash or vegetative waste at the restricted site may face citations and fines.
For proper waste disposal, residents are encouraged to use the Casper Regional Landfill located at 1886 Station Road.
