Men’s Fashion Week in Paris was disrupted by a brutal heat wave, with temperatures reaching dangerously high levels. Despite the heat, many attendees and models still wore heavy and layered clothing, including funnel-neck jackets, jeans, and fur shawls.
Designers showed their summer collections, but some were criticized for being impractical in the extreme weather. Suede suits, coats, and fur-lined pyjama tops were among the items shown on the runway, which seemed out of place in the sweltering heat.
Designers’ Response to the Heat
Some designers, such as Kiko Kostadinov, acknowledged the challenge of creating clothing for a global market, where the weather can vary greatly from one region to another. Kostadinov used lightweight and versatile materials in his collection, which included floaty tunics and airy button-down shirts.
Other designers, such as Issey Miyake, showed more practical and breathable clothing, including billowing suits and lightweight soft-shouldered blazers. These designs were seen as more suitable for the hot weather and were well-received by attendees.
