A teenager who drowned in Florida City over the weekend was identified as Marcus L. Sanders, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office. On Saturday, just after 7 p.m., Florida City Police arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a near-drowning. When officers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived, crews pulled Sanders out of the water, and he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
After an hour of the first incident, deputies said officers went back to the same location after another near-drowning was reported. Another 14-year-old boy was then airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. His identity was not released, but he remains in critical condition.
