The Metropolitan Arts Council has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to six Greenville County students pursuing an undergraduate degree in visual arts. A four-person selection committee chose each recipient based on the quality of their art and academic achievements.
Alaina Fisher Scholarship Endowment
The Alaina Fisher Scholarship Endowment was established in 2024 by a donation from Jill and Barry Cox of Warehouse Services Inc. It honors Alaina Fisher, a Greenville artist who passed away in 2022. Fisher was an alumna of the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and was a student at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy at the time of her death.
According to Alan Ethridge, MAC executive director, ‘The Board of Directors and staff of MAC are so incredibly appreciative of this endowment… We are very grateful for the support of both the Cox and Fisher families in funding this endowment.’ The endowment is a welcome addition to MAC’s numerous programs and services that move Greenville’s cultural community forward.
