A recent poll conducted by The Center Square Voters’ Voice Poll found that about half of Americans are confident in the future of democracy in the U.S. The poll surveyed over 2,500 registered voters, asking them how confident they were about democracy’s future and how well America’s founding principles were being practiced today.
Key Findings
A total of 63% of respondents indicated that America’s founding principles were not being practiced well, with 47% saying they were being practiced ‘not well at all’ and 16% saying ‘not too well’. On the other hand, 47% of respondents believed in democracy’s future, while 44% did not.
The most optimistic group was individuals who voted for President Donald Trump in the last election, with 63% expressing confidence in the future of American democracy. Republicans followed closely behind at 61%. Men were also more optimistic than women, with 56% of men indicating confidence in democracy’s future compared to 40% of women.
The poll also found that demographic differences were relatively modest, with confidence tending to be higher among respondents with higher educational attainment and household incomes.
