Alexandria has reason to celebrate one of its own: Heidi Haggerty-Wagner, principal of the Early Childhood Center (ECC), has been named among Virginia’s inaugural class of Principals of Distinction, according to The Alexandria Brief.
The recognition marks a milestone not just for Haggerty-Wagner, but for the entire ECC school community. Being selected for an inaugural cohort means she is among the very first educators in the Commonwealth to receive this honor — a distinction that underscores the high regard in which her leadership is held statewide.
Early childhood education plays a foundational role in a child’s development, and strong school leadership at that level can shape outcomes for years to come. Haggerty-Wagner’s inclusion in this first-ever group of honorees reflects the quality of work happening in Alexandria City Public Schools and highlights the city’s commitment to excellence from the earliest grades.
Congratulations to Principal Haggerty-Wagner and the ECC community on this well-deserved recognition!
